“Helen”

I would have recognized your heart anywhere,

and how people still flock to your colors.

The world doesn’t seem to frighten you,

and you proudly hang your works

in life’s varied halls,

alongside masters and children,

never letting fear or expectation stay your hand.

And as my heart wandered through the years,

never quite finding its home,

you called me ’round your fire for a time

and again,

and my soul sighed.

My lovely friend,

that my heart doesn’t have to fight for,

or wrestle with,

I wish I could have grown

some more in your company….
