First Sunshine

The sunshine
poured through my eyes today,
to blend with every notion,
and run like honey,
to stick to every impression,
sweeten every thought,
and warm every word
that passed my lips.
It soaked through my skin,
to tease out every tension
and warm my thickened blood;
every cell grown plump and supple
in its silvery wake.
It snaked down
every chorded muscle,
melting my heart,
guilding the edges
of hurt and doubt,
’til they became things of beauty
for a time.
My skin thrilled to its touch,
willful and wanton,
like one who craved the summer,
and wished all winter away…
